About 5 months ago I submitted the first picture of my vulva to this blog. I wasn’t expecting my self-perception to change; I really just wanted to express my (negative) feelings about my vulva because up until then, my loathing for such a private part of me had been kept secret. It’s strange for me to consider that had I not discovered the Large Labia Project, I would probably still hate my vulva and fear intimacy with another person. But fortunately, I did, and I will be forever grateful to you, Emma, for creating the Large Labia Project, and to everyone else who’s submitted their vulva, for helping me to realise that there is no standard vulva, and that they’re all beautiful.
Anyway, last Wednesday I got my first ever Brazilian; it was also the first time I’d been naked in front of someone (other than my mum) as a grown woman.
:)
_____________________Wow, really all I can say is that I’m so happy for you, and you’re very welcome. I want to give you the biggest hug. Thank you again for sharing yourself (your mind, heart and vulva), and you can definitely know that your presence here is helping other girls go through the same process of self awareness.
You’re very brave too with your first waxing. I hope you’re not still in shock from the pain (and embarrassment of having a stranger so closely intimate to you). You’re braver than me!

Beautiful!!!
Submission: Porn used to make me weirded out because their vaginas appeared like a mysterious slit out of nowhere, and mine had always been the opposite, even before puberty hit. I guess my labia minora are on the larger side. They dangle down a little and sometimes rub together and my clitoral hood is visible from the front as you can see in this photo. According to the standards of cosmetic surgery I’m fairly certain I’d be told that I have “excess” skin.
To anyone feeling as though they have irregularly shaped labia I cannot recommend the documentary “The Perfect Vagina” [Warning: graphic scenes] more. I’ve watched it a few times and I still can’t think of a more horrifying image than that of labia minora freshly sliced on a piece of surgical cloth.
I can’t say I always love my vagina, but since I’ve recently been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and a dermoid cyst on my ovary I’ve had to spend a lot of time with it at my gynaecologist’s, which makes me realise how irrelevant the exterior is compared to the health of what’s going on inside.
Maybe it’s the talking about it in third person thing that makes it therapeutic - who knows, I am growing to love it more a little bit more each day. Thanks so much for your blog, it’s making a difference.
PS. how hard is it to get a nice photo of your labia with a DSLR camera/photobooth sometimes, there is some serious pro stuff up here!
___________________What a wonderful contribution, thank you! I sometimes wonder about the high quality photos here too. You did well!
That is a great documentary, and I recommend everyone watch it.
I’m glad you’re more comfy with your body. In time I hope you’ll be very much in love with your vulva. I hope so, because your lips look beautiful.
